Logistics Billing and Payables Accountant

Job Summary
Lighthouse is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Transportation Accounts Payable Specialist to support our
fast-growing brokerage operations. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring carrier partners are paid
accurately and on time while maintaining the financial integrity of load-level cost data.

You will work closely with brokers, operations teams, and carrier partners to manage the carrier payment lifecycle—
from invoice verification to payment processing and issue resolution. This position is ideal for someone who thrives
in a fast-paced logistics environment, enjoys problem-solving, and takes pride in keeping financial records accurate
and organized.

What You'll Do

• Carrier Billing & Payables

• Review and verify carrier invoices against load documentation and agreed rates

• Process carrier payments through TriumphPay and other payment platforms

• Ensure carrier costs recorded in the accounting system accurately match load documentation

• Maintain organized records of invoices, documentation, and payment details

• Issue Resolution & Operational Support

• Investigate and resolve carrier billing discrepancies by working with brokers, operations teams, and carriers

• Track and manage carrier credits, refunds, and payment adjustments

• Provide billing support to brokers and operations teams to ensure smooth load settlement

• Financial Accuracy & Reporting

• Maintain accurate carrier payable records within the accounting system

• Validate carrier cost data to support accurate load margin reporting

• Assist leadership with operational reporting and issue resolution

• Additional Responsibilities

• Cross-train with the Transportation Accountant to support operational continuity

• Help document billing and payment procedures to improve team efficiency

• Support process improvements related to carrier payment workflows and documentation

• Assist with special projects and operational initiatives as the brokerage grows

Qualifications:

Required

• Experience in transportation, logistics, or freight brokerage

• 5+ years of accounting, billing, or accounts payable experience

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to research and resolve discrepancies

• High level of organization and attention to detail

Preferred

• Experience with TriumphPay or similar carrier payment platforms

• Familiarity with Transportation Management Systems (TMS)

• Advanced Excel skills

• Strong documentation and record-keeping abilities

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat
